DIY Silhouette Art

Wanted to share the Valentine's Day present I gave my husband this year:

I was inspired by several silhouette prints I had seen on Etsy and thought I'd give it a go myself. I used this tutorial to create the silhouette in Photoshop. It's a great tutorial: really easy to follow for an amateur like myself. Once I created the silhouette, I pasted it on a colored square and added the writing. I was pretty happy with the results.

Just to give you an idea, this is the picture I used for the silhouette:

This one was a bit tough to work with. The more defined space you have between people and objects, the easier it is to make the silhouette.

I still haven't figured out where to hang/put it. Right now it's chillin' on top of one of the dressers. I was going to hang it on the wall but I think I like it layered with other objects like it is right now. The color isn't perfect, but we're planning on painting the walls a darker red anyway.

I'm really happy with the way it turned out. I might make some more fun prints for the hallway eventually. I think the husband liked it too. But just in case, he also got some Red Wings tickets :)
